Corset Sizing Guide

Corsets have been worn for thousands of years. The original designs may have been heavy, bulky and uncomfortable, but today’s corsets are very different. Corsets are now not only a sexy lingerie luxury, but even considered to be fashion wear, with over bust and under bust designs being worn by many famous female artists and girl bands.

What makes corsets so likable, is the way in which the corset works with the bust, as well as your figure. If you have a small bust, the corset will enhance it. If you have a much larger bust, the corset will actually support it, much better than a standard bra. It’s no wonder the corset has designs for both the street and the bedroom.

Corsets are a gorgeous and very versatile lingerie luxury and some people are put off from experimenting with them, through fear of purchasing the wrong size. We’ll now take a closer look at the corset and iron out any sizing issues you may have.

Where to measure yourself, before purchasing a corset

Good quality corsets shouldn’t come cheap, so that’s every reason to make sure you know your size, before you go online (or on a shopping trip) to purchase one.

Stand in front of a mirror and place a tape measure around you, so it lies under the crease of your breasts and travels right around your back. Make sure that the tape measure is flat all the way around and remains straight. You may need your partner or a friend to help you with this.

Once you’ve got your size, write it down. Now you have your ‘Measured Size’, but we need to calculate your ‘Band Size’.

You will need to lift your breasts when measuring

You will need to lift your breasts when measuring (don't wear a bra)

These are two important things you must remember, once you’ve got your ‘Measured Size’:

- If your ‘Measured Size’ is an even number, add 4 to it for your ‘Band Size’

- If your ‘Measured Size’ is an odd number, add 5 to it for your ‘Band Size’

(so for example, if your ‘Measured Size’ was 32, simply add 4 to give you a ‘Band Size’ of 36)

CORSET FITTING TIP: If your bra cup size is DD or above, always purchase one more band size up, than you actually are.

(for example, if you’ve calculated your ‘Band Size’ as 36, you must purchase the next size up, if your DD or above).
