The Risks of Wearing the Wrong Bra Size

No woman should wear the incorrect bra size, but research has shown that the bigger your bust, the more damage you’ll do to yourself. The wrong bra can begin to cause minor, but noticeable changes such as rashes and tingling sensations in the arms. If you then fail to do anything about your incorrect bra size your health could be at a much greater risk, with added risks such as breast pain, headaches and back pain.

After such effects (and still failing to seek advice on your correct bra size) you can even develop long-term damage to your skin (abrasions) and more importantly, problems with your breathing. Yes, the wrong bra size causes more than just minor irritation until your next purchase. It can have serious and lasting side-effects.

How do I Know if I’m Wearing the Wrong Bra Size?

Just like the side-effect, there are a number of noticeable signs that point to a wrong bra size. Your actual breasts, bra cups and bra straps will all show individual signs that you’re in the wrong bra size.

Breast Signs

The easiest of all signs. If you’re in the wrong bra you’re boobs will either be spilling out of your cups, or have an unattractive gap between the breasts and cup. A bust-emphasising smaller bra, may be fine for a quick session of passion (we all know if drives men wild) but it will do you no favours whatsoever if you actually WEAR your bra like that.

Bra Cup Signs

This and the unattractive gap between breast and cup sign, would be the easiest sign for your partner to spot. If you don’t wear padded bras then you really should start taking notice of that mirror! Non padded bra cups will wrinkle-up and crease if you’re in the wrong size. You’ll pretty much look like you’re wearing a cotton bag around your breasts, rather than a bra.

Wearing the wrong size padded bra will generate small wrinkles or folds. This means that the cups have been strained and pushed-out so much, the padding is starting to fold-in on itself.

Bra Underwire Signs

Your bras underwiring should fit smoothly and flat to your rib-cage. If it doesn’t and you’re seeing gaps or folds, you’re in the wrong bra size.

Bra Band Signs

A very common issue with wrong bras size wearers. If you’re wearing the wrong bra size your bras band will start to creep up at the back, allowing your boobs to sag. Your bra band should be flat and level all the way around.

If you’re in the wrong bra size your bra straps will dig in to your skin. This should really be one of the most obvious signs (as it’s very uncomfortable) so if you’re experiencing this, it’s time for a measurement asap.

Time, Money and Man Power

As unbelievable as it may sound, many lingerie manufacturers and retailers, still see larger bras as a complete and utter risk. Larger bras not only take time to design and develop, but they also take much more material to produce (hence the higher retail prices).

Once a bra has been made, it must undergo tests. Smaller and more widely sold bras, are much easier to pass such tests as they don’t require such crucial and precise testing.
