Why are “Bigger Bras” so hard to find?

With the average bra size being DD, it’s very hard to imagine just why bra manufacturers, are still ignoring larger bras. Some of the biggest names in the lingerie business, still lack the product that full figured women, require.

‘Supply and Demand’ is a business term used, to explain why a product is created and invested in. Without a solid customer demand for a product, it becomes incredibly hard for a business to succeed. So why are there so few lingerie manufacturers and retailers, that will stand up and meet the demand of larger bra sizes and designs?

Time, Money and Man Power

As unbelievable as it may sound, many lingerie manufacturers and retailers, still see larger bras as a complete and utter risk. Larger bras not only take time to design and develop, but they also take much more material to produce (hence the higher retail prices).

Once a bra has been made, it must undergo tests. Smaller and more widely sold bras, are much easier to pass such tests as they don’t require such crucial and precise testing. Larger bras however, require an awful lot of testing. Measurements are crucial for a bras success, so once this objective has been accomplished, the support must be tested. If the bra fails, the entire process must be started again. Manufacturing, measurements and support…it’s a costly process that many manufactures dread and completely stay away from. It all comes down to existing retailers, with large numbers of loyal (smaller sized) customers, who simply won’t take the business gamble.

While there are a hand full of good quality retailers out there, far too many seem to let “The risk” get the better of them. After all, “Business” is a risk, no matter what product or service you’re selling. However, if you’re already popular in the industry and there’s proof of such a demand…surly it’s a lower risk…a risk that’s certainly worth taking.
